A reinterpretation of the zip-front denim work jackets of the mid-1900s, cut wide through the body and cropped at the waist.

The primary reference is the Lee 91-B, introduced in 1929 as the first Lee work jacket to close on a zip, cut short in the body for ease of movement. Alongside it, the Hercules jackets sold by Sears, Roebuck through the 1950s.

Constructed from a 13.5oz Japanese denim milled by Kaihara in Fukuyama, Hiroshima, Japan. Kaihara runs every stage in house: cotton selection, spinning, rope dyeing, weaving, and finishing.

The wash is achieved through a process that draws indigo out of the base fabric. Wear is introduced through whiskering at the inner elbows, fade lines along the seams, and distressing across the body, with abrasion at the cuffs and hem where denim naturally breaks down with use.

Seams are flat-felled, with the major seams triple-stitched. The sleeves are cut in two pieces, shaped to follow the bend of the arm, with the seams converging at the cuff.

The collar is a fine 13-wale cotton corduroy in washed charcoal. The jacket is lined throughout, sleeves included, in a striped 100% cotton flannel, yarn-dyed so the stripe is woven into the cloth rather than printed.

The lower pockets carry the mule ear flap, a continuation of the pocketing language established on the Mule Ear Denim. A zip chest pocket sits above, with an internal pocket inside the front.

Finished with four types of hardware: a two-way YKK zip in antique brass at the front, a teardrop YKK zip in antique brass at the chest pocket, floral-embossed silver YKK buttons on the flap pockets, and black fish-eye corozo buttons at the cuffs and waistband.

We offer size exchanges for the same product, provided the requested size is in stock. Exchanges must be pre-approved via email before returning your item. All exchanges are subject to availability at the time your return is received.

Items must be returned in their original, unused condition, with tags attached and in the original packaging. Returns must be shipped within 14 days of delivery and must include a copy of the original invoice. Customers are responsible for all shipping costs associated with returning and resending the exchanged item. Once we receive and inspect your return, please allow up to 3 business days for your exchange to be processed.

Exchanges are limited to one per item. Items that are returned worn, damaged, or missing original tags or packaging will not be eligible for exchange and will be returned to the customer.
